Story For this Wedding

Ashley and Jonathan’s love story began in college at USC. Ashley was in a sorority, Jonathan was in a fraternity, and they both wanted to recreate that non-stop party vibe for their wedding. They chose the Four Seasons at Ko Olina for that exact reason – their guests all stayed at the resort, and were spoiled with a weeklong celebration without ever having to leave.

FROM JOSEPH: There’s so much to love about Ashley and Jonathan’s wedding. First, the Four Seasons Ko Olina was the perfect venue for their wedding. They stayed in-house, and enjoyed breathtaking sunset views every night including their wedding night, when I took them out to the beach at sunset to capture some stunningly perfect wedding day portraits. What I loved most about their wedding was the gorgeous decor and florals that perfectly matched the vibe at the Ocean Lawn – rustic brown chairs, tables and canopies paired with the greens and whites of their romantic florals. As a photographer, I loved the attention to detail that each of these professional vendors put into making this day special.

I get this all the time – My cousin is a photographer. Why should I hire a professional photographer over them? They’re so much cheaper. Oooohhhh, don’t get me started on this!

Being a professional photographer is so much more than just being able to shoot photos. Working at luxury properties like the Four Seasons requires liability insurance, an understanding of their property and the rules (for example, vendors must check in at security before and after the event), and a high level of professionalism. Punctuality? My team and I show up 30 minutes before our start time to debrief and be ready for your day. Dress code? All black, all the time. We know you’ve spent a lot of time curating your guests’ dress code, and we want to look good, too! Finally, as a photographer, the biggest flex I have over amateur  photographers is the fact that you hired us to do a job and we take it extremely seriously. My team and I each shoot on multiple cameras, and each of our cameras have TWO memory cards (one is always a backup). All of your images get downloaded to TWO hard drives and also to the cloud. All of these backups and redundancies happen within 24 hours of your wedding. We take your photos very seriously. It’s one less thing you need to worry about because you hired a professional.
